My 5-year-old Yorkie was diagnosed with Diabetes in July. I monitor her glucose levels daily and make minor insulin dosage adjustments; she is doing well averaging glucose levels at 250. In the past few monthsReesecup1 18:12, October 14, 2010 (UTC), I have noticed a darkening in the fur around her eyes and nose. Thankfully her eyes are still clear and vision remains good. Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this on their pet and if it was related to the disease. Thanks - Dee, Sewell

I am new to this site. I am interested in information from people who have dogs with diabetes. I have a 4 year old Lab/Chesapeake mix who was diagnosed last year. None of his littermates have diabetes. He has never been overweight and is young for a big dog to develop diabetes. We are now up to 30 units of Humulin N (U 100) twice a day and he still spikes in the 500's on his sugar. He only eats his "diabetic" dog food. Any tips? Also any good place to buy his insulin cheaper thazn $57 a bottle? Thanks, MO

Hello,
I am new to this site, but it seems very helpful. My 5 year old cat Delilah has been diabetic for about 4 years now. She has reversed twice, needing no insulin. She is currently eating dry DM food I get at the vet. She is currently on Vetsulin 3 units twice a day. They are not going to make the Vetsulin according to my vet anymore. So, after this bottle I need to change the insulin. I used PZI in the past, but at that time, they had a hard time getting it so I switched to Vetsulin, also the PZI was triple the amount. I just need some feedback about the other human insulins people have used that have worked for them.
Thanks so much,
Kristin
