Did you make these yourself? Way cool. Nicely done!
If you still have the originals, a ".png" version will look better than the .jpg version, since it's graphic, not photographic. I can help if you want --Steve and Jock 19:41, 8 July 2006 (UTC)

We hope 20:06, 8 July 2006 (UTC) All of these were done with Fireworks. Have the pngs--Fireworks uses png format as their main one. What I do is to create the "master" as a Fireworks png, save it as the png file for the master, then export mostly everything to either a jpg or gif file format. Problem with the pngs Fireworks creates is that the sizes of them are HUGE.
Here's sizing on all wiki graphics I did in Fireworks png format:
Porcineinsulin.png 198KB
Bovineinsulin.png 199KB
canineinsulin.png 191KB
felineinsulin.png 200KB
Insulin_hex_di_mon.png 178KB
I can upload all of these in the original png format if you think they're not too large in size--when doing websites, you tend to keep an eye on the size of the files also, so pages load fast enough. This is why one does a LOT of exporting the Fireworks png files to jpg and gif formats. Will be glad to upload the pngs if you think they won't slow the pages too much--let me know.
BTW--since all of these are now in the public domain--feel free to copy any of them for felinediabetes.com if they might also help out there.

- Thanks! Instead of uploading the original .png's, please email them to me. I think I can reduce their size without noticeably affecting their quality, and keep them in .png format. I'd certainly like to try!

- Here you go, it worked! I think it's much nicer, and not too much bigger.
All I did was reduce the PNG images from 32 bits deep (16 million colors + unused alpha channel) down to 8 bits deep (256 colors), using palette optimization and error diffusion. Paint Shop Pro 4 (from 1997) does it in one step, batchable. This should reduce from 200K to 50K, I don't know how we got to 38K but I'm certainly not complaining. Oh yeah, I do know. PNG Compression by run-length encoding or repeated pattern encoding works better with fewer colours.
My guess is that there's a setting in Fireworks to output to reduced bit depth too -- you may need to investigate.
These are GREAT!![]

Thanks, Steve!
I'm going to see what Fireworks says about reducing png bits-it may very well be under the batch commands. Adobe purchansed Macromedia last year and quite a bit of the Fireworks panel mirrors PSP. Have noticed that when reading PSP articles, there's usually a minor workaround that will get the job done using Fireworks, or just a slightly different way of going about it between the two.
Will be swapping the jpgs for these now!
Thanks again!
